History:
On October 23, 1913, a group of African Americans purchased nine acres of land to establish a burial ground. This is believed to be the first privately owned and operated Black-owned cemetery in Florida. The non-profit organization received its original charter on June 14, 1916. The cemetery includes graves of prominent figures and pioneer families.
