AABGP research inquiries

The African American Burial Ground Project is an ongoing research study at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.

While funding for burial ground sites at USF is currently limited to Zion and Oaklawn cemeteries, we are happy to discuss potential research collaborations with:

 

  • faculty or staff working on projects or proposals related to black cemetery histories and storytelling

  • graduate students interested in conducting theses and dissertation research in areas related to the AABGP

  • Community organizations working to reclaim the lost histories of local African American burial grounds

  • Community liaisons, residents, and advocacy groups working to bring attention to black cemetery erasures in their area and/or sites currently at-risk of being lost.

  • Individuals and organizations interested in sponsoring AABGP research
