Memorial Day Ceremony at Mount Moor Cemetery

A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Mount Moor Cemetery to honor Veterans and community leaders on May 25th, 2026 at 11:30am.

This year’s program, titled Remembering Veterans Who Led Our Cause, will pay tribute to African American veterans and community leaders whose service strengthened both the nation and Rockland County. A special emphasis will be placed on the legacy of David C. Smith, whose leadership helped revive and sustain the mission of the Friends of Mount Moor Cemetery during a critical period in its history.

The Memorial Day program will feature remarks from local elected officials, clergy, veterans, and community leaders, as well as musical selections, a wreath laying ceremony, and the reognicition of several posthumous honorees connected to military service and community preservation.
